Wizard Eyes is one of the Ice King's powers. It is first shown in "Mortal Recoil." This ability allows Ice King to see different planes of existence, albeit with no control over what he is able to view at any given time. As a result, Ice King often sees strange things that most others can't, such as odd-looking creatures and phantoms native to a dimension known as the "Spirit World." This ability makes it hard for him to distinguish the things that actually happen and the strange things only his eyes see. Though Ice King refers to this ability as "Wizard Eyes" it is unknown if any other wizard posses a similar ability.

In "Beyond this Earthly Realm," Ice King was able to see Finn in the Spirit World and agreed to aid Finn in his escape from the dimension, provided that Finn place all the spirits in a spirit hole so he would not have to see them anymore.

Notable Things Seen

  • A shapeless form coming from The Lich going into Princess Bubblegum's body.
  • Odd looking monsters flying or walking around and other peculiar things.
  • Finn, after he had touched a cursed porcelain lamb statuette and was transported to the Spirit World.

Trivia

"When you have stanky old wizard eyes like me, sometimes you see things that are real, and other times it's like crazy, crazy, crazy, in your face all the time."

  • So far, Ice King is the only known wizard shown to have this power/side effect.
  • In the episode "Holly Jolly Secrets Part II," Ice King revealed that his crown is most likely the source of his Wizard Eyes as well as his other Wizard powers.
  • The Witch from "The Witch's Garden" may have Wizard Eyes or a variation of it because she could see Jake's subconscious when Finn couldn't.
  • In "Mortal Recoil," when the Ice King is talking abut his Wizard Eyes, the audience sees everything through his point-of-view.
  • Initially, the odd things seen through the Ice King's eyes are assumed to be illusions manifested by his crown, but in "Beyond this Earthly Realm" they are revealed to be paranormal creatures that actually exist albeit in a different plane of reality.
  • Ice King views both the Spirit World and the material plane simultaneously through his Wizard Eyes, making it difficult for him to comprehend the differences between the two.
  • Adam Muto suggested, but did not confirm that it may be Charles Bonnet syndrome.[1]
  • The monsters are like monsters from a French movie, Fantastic Planet.
