"Who Would Win" is the twenty-first episode in the fourth season of Adventure Time. It's the ninety-ninth episode overall.

Synopsis

Finn and Jake are determined to take down the Farm, but instead they fight each other for not training seriously.

Plot

The episode begins with Finn and Jake walking up to a cliff. Finn thinks that he can make the jump, but he tries and falls. Jake saves him, and Finn tries again. Jake comes with him, and they glide over the cliff. Finn yells that he did it, though it was actually Jake. Finn tells Jake that he likes just spending time with him, without other people.

Finn and Jake then see some Marauders climbing over a barn. They go down to investigate, and find out that the barn is actually a legendary fighter called "the Farm." After the Farm throws off all of the Marauders, another man, called "the Train," comes to attack him. The Train attacks, but loses when the Farm sits on him. Finn and Jake run to the Train to make sure he's okay, and he says that he will be, since he says he has a friend that makes bionic legs. Finn states that he wants bionic legs, but Jake tells him that he doesn't and says that they will discuss it later.

The guys decide that they want to fight the Farm, and start training. But while Finn is taking training seriously, Jake plays Kompy's Kastle behind his back, stating that it's important that he remains the third best player of the game. Finn gets mad at him, and breaks the game, which flashes "Jake, I've always had a crush on you," before it dies. Then it starts to rain, without a cloud in the sky. Jake, in a fit of rage, tells Finn that he is going to break every bone in his body and heal him again with the magic tears that Finn got from the cyclops, meaning that jake has never used it since Another Way. The boys start earnestly fighting, Jake growing to the size of a giant and battering Finn, and Finn deceiving Jake, causing him to punch himself. Eventually, they come to a log, and while Finn is going across, he falls, making him dangle by his head and part of his shoulders. Jake sees this as an opportunity, and starts kicking him. The log breaks, and both of the boys fall. Jake lands first and Finn lands on top of Jake, and the log landing on top of Jake and further tiring the Magic Dog. The two continue their fight, both weary and bruised. The two use cheap moves, Finn giving Jake an Indian Burn, and throwing mud in his eyes. Jake pantsed Finn, and grew his butt in order to squish him. Finn bit down on Jake's buttocks, and the fight finally came to an end and Finn wins.

After a bit more fighting, the boys decide that they both are going to fight the Farm without each-other's help. When they get there, they are so tired that they are easily knocked out. During their sleep, they see the Dream Warrior, who tells them "I'm here to hang with you in your together dream." and says seemingly random things that make no sense such as "two shiny golden apples, ripe enough to bite." and sends them back to reality. When Finn and Jake wake up, they realize that the Dream Warrior was telling them the right cheap moves to take down the Farm, and use them by putting mud in his eyes, pulling down his pants, and biting his buns. The Farm falls, defeated. Finn and Jake rejoice at their victory, hailed as brogends and given medals.

This episode gives the answer to fans to know who would win in a battle, Finn or Jake? The answer is neither as they were both nearly killed by each other and The Farm.
Matthew Broderick made a guest appearance in this episode as the voice of Dream Warrior.
The medals Finn and Jake receive both say "Brogends" (a portmanteau of "bros" and "legends") and have the number 1 on them.
The Train collapses and farts after being kicked onto shore by the Farm, triggering Finn to ask, "Did you just die?" One of the factors that indicates death is the loss of bowel control.
In the place where Finn and Jake rest, corals, bones, submarines, ships, and such can be seen; meaning that once there was an ocean there.
After Finn destroyed Jake's video game, its screen reads "Jake, I've always had a crush on you."
Dream Warrior "tells" Finn and Jake to pull down the Farm's pants even though he's not wearing any.

When Jake said "Let's destroy that guy," Finn was next to him; in the zoom out right after Finn turned his head, he's more close to the water at the moment he shouts "We're coming back for you, the Farm!"

Finn's hat seems to have recovered from when it was destroyed in "You Made Me."
The title music from "What Was Missing" plays at one point in the episode.
Finn comments that he would be willing to replace parts of his body with machines. He previously envisioned himself possessing a mechanical arm in "Mortal Folly" and "King Worm."
Jake says that he would beat Finn up and then heal him with the tears Finn got from the Forest Cyclops in "Another Way."
Jake says that he needs to play Kompy's Kastle everyday so that he can maintain his rank. Kompy's Kastle was first seen in "Beyond this Earthly Realm," as Finn's favorite game.
The Marauders have seemingly wandered away from their village, which was destroyed some time between "It Came from the Nightosphere" and "Burning Low."
When Finn and Jake are fighting the Farm, the music from when Finn, Jake, Lady Rainicorn, and Lumpy Space Princess were making their potions in "From Bad to Worse" is played.
When Finn is enraged, he spits on people; he spat on Jake like he did on Marceline in "Evicted!," and like he did on Tiffany in "My Two Favorite People."

Cultural references

Both the Farm and the Train are wrestlers similar to the style in the manga Kinnikuman by Yudetamago; in the series, wrestlers based on inanimate objects are used. The franchise was notable as the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line in North America.
The music used in the long preview is similar to the opening of "Eye of the Tiger" by the band Survivor, used as the theme to the movie Rocky III.
The Dream Warrior giving Finn and Jake two golden apples are a reference to a Greek story in which Aphrodite gives a young boy three golden apples in order to win a race and marry someone.
The dream sequence is a reference to Dale Cooper's black lodge dreams in the television show Twin Peaks. Both dreams take place in an extremely surreal environment where the main character(s) receive cryptic clues from a mysterious host. The zigzag background in Finn and Jake's dream is also similar to the zigzag pattern of the black lodge's floor.
One of the Marauders in the water has a green cybernetic left eye and hand. It resembles a Terminator from James Cameron's The Terminator franchise.
