Cultural references assumption
In Cultural references the reference to the ford (bronco/focus) is talked about, but the assumption that the mushroom war is well after the 1996 discontinuation of the former is inconsistent with the cultural reference of Simon's references to the TV show Cheers, when he sings Where everybody knows your name by Gary Portnoy. Mostly because at the point of the mushroom war, the show would have most likely been popular, hence Simon's ability to recall information from the series. Because it is definitely more believable for the time period to be closer to the shows airing than further if there are references, and playing devil's advocate for a piece of information that is equally if not more assumptuious than mine doesn't help to dig deeper into the show, it only plays the "what if" game.
