Regarding my revamp of the page[]

I added an "Abilities" section to the page as a rewrite of this line "In "Death in Bloom", it is revealed that he possesses powers connected to the Land of the Dead, including having the knowledge of how living beings can enter into the realm and a personal friendship with Death himself. It is unknown how he possesses these powers. In exchange for teaching Finn and Jake how to enter the Land of the Dead, he says he wants their flesh, and his eyes glow evilly." already in the article. I'm not sure how necessary this section is, as I feel his abilities are minimal. Feel free to delete this section.

Undead?[]

Real Peppermint Butler in King Worm[]

Could Peppermint Butler been actually talking to Finn in King Worm? From all the other weird death/occult/dark stuff stuff he's involved in, I don't think it'd be too surprising that he could communicate through dreams/nightmares. He seemed more "real" (not part of the dream) than everyone else, even Jake.

Since the whole episode is "weird," it's open to interpretation, but my take on it is that Peppermint Butler was a fake. He pretended to be the real Peppermint Butler and gave Finn advice, but the advice steered Finn in the wrong direction and distracted him, just like Jake. King Worm's goal was to keep Finn occupied in the dream for as long as he could, which was aided by Peppermint Butler telling him to run around and chase a worm in order to escape. Then why would King Worm give a hint on how to escape the dream and later admit that he was keeping Finn in the dreamscape if he wanted to keep Finn occupied? -- Jake getting pulled on by candy kids special poseSkyFinn with brain outline special model 03:04, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
I'm going to preface this by saying it really doesn't matter what I think or what you think happened in the episode. The reason the info doesn't belong in this page is because there is no definitive proof to support either theory.
King Worm did not give a hint about how to escape the dream, he gave false information in the guise of a friend (just like with Jake). Finding the worm and breaking it was a wild-goose-chase; it led to nothing. King Worm states that he wants to keep Finn in the dream until he can drain all of his life energy, so obviously time is a factor. King Worm only admitted to what was going on after Finn realized Jake was a fake (also, because it's an 11 minute cartoon and there needed to be a quick resolution). Lailoken (Talk) 03:43, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
When did I say what I think happened in this episode? He did "hint" in a way by saying that he needed to break the worm to escape the dream (I can't think of another word to use other than "hint"). Also, so what if it was not actually him? Why would this mean the info can't be there? There is info about Joshua and all of the other characters in the episode, so what makes this different? Something like "Peppermint Butler appeared in "King Worm" telling Finn that he was trapped in a dream. To escape, he told him to break King Worm." Is there any problem with that? Does it say that he entered Finn's dreamscape or that he was fake? Also, I don't understand how speculation makes other info (that wouldn't be considered speculation) speculative. -- Jake getting pulled on by candy kids special poseSkyFinn with brain outline special model 06:22, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
I forgot to add "can be written" at the end of my suggestion for what should be written on the page... -- Jake getting pulled on by candy kids special poseSkyFinn with brain outline special model 06:25, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
I think maybe we're arguing different things. This is the text in question:

In "King Worm ", Peppermint Butler enters Finn's dreamscape to give him vital information that allows Finn to escape. It is never made clear how or why.

It was put under the "Abilities" section which implies, as other people have tried to do, that the Peppermint Butler in the dream was the real Peppermint Butler. I have no problem if someone wants to put that Peppermint Butler was in Finn's dream in order to mention his role in the episode, but there's no evidence that the real Peppermint Butler has the ability to enter dreamscapes. Lailoken (Talk) 08:35, October 6, 2012 (UTC)
I think we argued the same thing, but after reading that I am confused... but there is nothing wrong with my suggested wording for the page, right? -- Marceline on I Remember You promo art Sky Ice King on I Remember You promo art 02:22, November 3, 2012 (UTC)
I honestly don't see the point of it, but as I said, I don't have a problem with someone stating that he appeared in "King Worm" and describing what he did/said. I do have a problem with people stating that the real Peppermint Butler has the ability to enter dreamscapes and went into Finn's dream in order to help him escape (which is what started this conversation). Lailoken (Talk) 02:50, November 3, 2012 (UTC)
Wait, I didn't realize we don't have any info on what he did in episodes besides the fact that he sung in Wizard battle. I change my mind for this reason... -- Marceline on I Remember You promo art Sky Ice King on I Remember You promo art 03:02, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Princess Cookie[]

In Princess Cookie, there was a peppermint candy kid in Candy Orphanage. In his appearance, his eyes are covered by Cartoon Network logo. After PB arrived, that kid didn't appear anymore. And Peppermint Butler seems like in a smaller scale, which is exactly as height as other candy children. So I guess... -- sunny 10:58, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Peppermint Devil[]

Hey! in one of the more recent episodes, they're soon fooling around with an Aura-reading machine, which when prompted to use it by Finn, Peppermint Butler shies away. Coincidence? I think not. He is notable for his connection with evil; this was clearly him hiding something ;)

Pepermint Butler Possible Reference[]

There may be a slight reference in the idea of Peppermint Butler. His design and his story seems to nod to the main character of an anime named "black butler". In the show the butler, sebastian, is a demon. he is able to do anything as long as it doesnt break his contract. After his master, Ciel, gets what he wanted, Sebastian eats his soul. This seems quite similar to peppermint butler as they both have "dark powers" and an unkown back story. The similarities are quite small, but all it would take is one person on the team to like Black Butler to influence Peppermint Butler's powers. Bryer (talk) 22:10, January 7, 2014 (UTC)Bryer

Graphic Novel References[]

Should we include information from the graphic novels and other comic adaptations on this wiki? I had a quick look and didn't see any mentions from other comics/graphic novels so I thought I'd ask first as I wasn't sure if this wiki is restricted to the TV show only or not?

I mention it here because I read the graphic novel Bitter Sweets, which not only reveals that Peppermint Butler is obsessed with fire, but also that he and Cinnamon Bun were the original heroes of the Candy Kingdom before Finn and Jake started adventuring together; they also team up quite a lot in the comics, especially the Banana Guard Academy series. -- Haravikk (talk) 12:49, April 30, 2016 (UTC)

  • Yeah, we usually include that. If this article doesn't contain information about the comics or the graphic novels, then it's outdated. As long as however wants to update it uses a {{ComicsCanon}} template to the section, then any information added about the comics or the novels would be allowed. - LoLuX12 (walkietalkie) 13:00, April 30, 2016 (UTC)
