I'm sure that, even though it has never been directly stated that the show takes place on earth, it can easily be inferred that it takes place on there.Where else would it take place on? I mean, there is even proof of Christianity in the show, and before Holly Jolly Secrets aired. And, most importantly, the buildings and other structures that are clearly made by humans. Should this really be in the article? Sky Monster 02:11, January 10, 2012 (UTC)

Pen has said that it takes place on the Earth. ƒelinoel (Talk) 15:39, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

I think it was in "The Eyes" when Jake played Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and that Mozart song. Should we put in the article that some old songs are still known in Ooo? 23:14, August 21, 2012 (UTC)No username

P.S -- Sorry, when I was writing this I though I was on the Land of Ooo page.

Am I the only one that noticed when Finn talked to Abraham Lincoln in the Pilot, that the Earth was fully formed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs)

2nd Planet from the Sun

The sidebar reads "3rd planet from the sun" but (quoting the trivia from Mars) "In "The Lich," it is revealed that Mars is the third planet from the sun because the Sun's expansion resulted in the destruction of Mercury"  so unless the entire sidebar "3rd planet from the Sun, the Orion-Cygnus Arm, Milky Way Galaxy. Near Quasar 3C 405" is a quote from the show (in which case there should be an episode reference), this should be deleted entirely and changed to merely "2nd planet from the sun" as that is all that has been confirmed by actual "Adventure Time" canon so far. Be unreasonable. -- KADC (talk) 00:46, February 14, 2014 (UTC)

The quasar is a quote from real life, quasars are how astrophysicists denote locations in the wide expanse of space since no two quasars are alike. Scratch that... oops that should have been labeled with a pulsar, not a quasar... x.x; So pulsar PSR J0108-1431 would be what it should be. ƒelinoel (Talk) 09:44, February 14, 2014 (UTC)
Though we know from the "Adventure Time" creator, Pendleton Ward, that Ooo is a contenent on post-apocalyptic Earth and that the Earth is now the second planet from the sun from show canon, we don't have any canonical source stating that the solar system is still within our known reality. The explosion of the sun and/or whatever caused the hole in the planet could have, for example, been the result of an experiment which threw our solar system (well, technically we only know about the Sun, Earth, and Mars at this point) into another reality which could explain the existance of magic and the interaction with multiple dimensions. Of course, you may be absolutely right, and kudos to you for knowing that (colour me impressed) but I believe wiki entries should be limited to verifiable show canon. Be unreasonable. -- KADC (talk) 14:04, February 14, 2014 (UTC)
You ALSO think the solar system moved?! ƒelinoel (Talk) 17:33, February 14, 2014 (UTC)
It's not so much a matter of belief as it is not making assumptions in a show with living candy people, magic, advanced technology, and dimensional travel being as easy as staring cross-eyed at a corner or spilling bug milk on a happy face and saying an incantation.
However, if we want to speculate (that's half the fun after all) and we stick to actual science for the moment, if the expansion of the sun that destoyed Mercury was natural and the final million year expansion to a red giant hasn't started (else the sun in the show wouldn't still be yellow) then the story takes plece close to 7.6 billion years in the future, yet from what I've read the pulsar stage of neutron stars is likely limited to a few billion years at most, so there's a very good chance that pulsar PSR J0108-1431 wouldn't be a pulsar anymore.
If we loosen things up to consider the show's psuedo-science/magic as well what we know from actual physicis, the Earth missing a large portion of its mass as would the sun as it expands to destroy Mercury would both have released/expended a catastrophic amount of life-destroying energy, yet all life on Earth wasn't destroyed plus the Earth remains in a stable enough orbit to sustain life so something other than natural events must of interveined. What I proposed earlier (strictly as a possiblity off the top of my head) was that if dimensional travel is possible with the minimal energy expended in the examples I mentioned above, imagine what could happen with the energy released from whatever took out a chunk of the Earth and protected us from the solar expansion.
Now I'm not saying either situation is likely, but there's no way to know anything for certain in a show like this until it's introduced into the show's canon. Be unreasonable. -- KADC (talk) 04:52, February 15, 2014 (UTC)
  • Per wiki rules, the conversation from here on should probably be moved to an appropriate forum as we're no longer discussing article imporovements. Be unreasonable. -- KADC (talk) 05:03, February 15, 2014 (UTC)

If you are talking about the talk pages must be used for improving the article only, I am pretty sure this falls under improving the article. ƒelinoel (Talk) 06:10, February 15, 2014 (UTC)

Ooo's Creation and the Rift, and the Cause of War

This is of pure discussion

(Ooo's Creation)

All of the Energy released from the Nuclear weapons launched and dropped caused large amounts of kinetic energy forcing tectonic plates to shift eradically, this caused the formation of Ooo Which is probably the remnants of the continents such as: Asia, Africa (The Rift Valley), America, Europe and Australia

(The Rift)

The Rift is Located over the remants of the Northern Americas and Parts of Asia and Eastern Russia, these areas had the most amount of kinetic discharge and radiation, because of this the area remained scared, after awhile parts of these areas drifted off and made parts of Ooo. The Rift is also a source of a lot of the Paranormal and Demonic Elements of Ooo, and the Home of Agartha.

(Cause of War)

Sometime between 1984 to 2080 the increasing tension between China, America and Russia (Due to the Invasion of Ukraine (If the Mushroom war hasn't happened yet) Would become worse when natural deposits of Oil and Uranium would be come rarer and rarer, this caused a Global War to fight over the resources, which ended up in a Global Thermonuclear war.

Edit for clarity, grammar, and redundancies

I have posted a draft copy of my proposed changes here: User_blog:KADC for comments before I post such a major revision.

First of all, I have removed several sentences containing reduntant references, changed the grammar (where necessary) to present tense, and added several new reference links and removed redundant links per Wikia guidelines.

After moving the relevent paragraphs to the "Geography" section and deleting the paraphraph repeatedly stating that the series "hints" that it takes place on Earth, nothing was left in the "History" section which was not already stated elsewhere on this page. As the only other information that could be added to this section already exists on the "Land of Ooo" page, I removed the "History" section entirely.   KADC "Be unreasonable." (talk) 19:40, April 5, 2014 (UTC)

There's been no further comments about my proposed rewrite so I will post the revision at the end of the day. KADC "Be unreasonable." (talk) 14:20, April 8, 2014 (UTC)
Well yeah, if you can better the article, better the article. ƒelinoel (Talk) 09:05, April 10, 2014 (UTC)
Posting rewrite now. Also changed the sentence about the clean cut crater and a fifth of the Earth's mass as the crater neither appears clean cut nor is anywhere near a fifth of the Earth's mass missing (probably closer to 15%).  KADC "Be unreasonable." (talk) 20:15, April 10, 2014 (UTC)
To be honest, the size of the crater changes every time we see it, it would probably be best not to state a size. ƒelinoel (Talk) 21:38, April 10, 2014 (UTC)
I chose "contenent-sized" to reflect the huge scale of the crater without being overly specific as it looks to me like it could be roughly on par with the size of North America or Australia. KADC "Be unreasonable." (talk) 22:37, April 10, 2014 (UTC)
