"Ring of Fire" is the sixth episode in the ninth season of Adventure Time. It's the two hundred seventy-second episode overall.[2]

Synopsis

When an old flame comes calling on urgent business, Tree Trunks reconsiders both her wild past and her tranquil present. [4]

Plot

Sweet P is playing with a toy car in the yard when Tree Trunks calls him to eat breakfast. He proclaimed that he has the best life in the world, asking his mother if she has the best life in the world. She watched a leaf fall from a tree, allowing tears to fall from her eyes. Sweet P noticed and asked why she was sad, with her quickly dismissing it and heading inside her home after Mr. Pig asked her to answer the phone.

Inside, Mr. Pig is cooking porridge for Sweet P when Tree Trunks answered the phone. On the line was Randy, her first husband. He wanted to meet with her, and Tree Trunks was unsure, but agreed.

At a diner, Randy asked Tree Trunks for his grandmother's ring, for him to propose to his girlfriend. Tree Trunks began to reflect on her life. She recalled Randy proposing and her leaving him before the honeymoon.

She met Daniel, her second husband, as a pirate. The night after they wed, she discovered a lie he told her. She marooned him on an island and left the life of a pirate.

Tree Trunks became a businesswoman, specializing in trade. Wyatt, her third husband, met her while working for her. She separated from him after he wanted her to take care of him, with Wyatt saying he would throw the ring into a pit.

Randy was shocked by this, and shortly after, Mr. Pig crashed from the ceiling, worrying that Randy would take her away, but his worries were dismissed. Wyatt came into the diner, wanting to fight Randy, but tripped. Tree Trunks took the ring while he was incapacitated, and returned it to it's rightful owner.
