Infectious Diseases are diseases that are spread from one person to another through microorganisms. These are four different categories of species microorganisms that cause infectious diseases, which include Viruses, Pathogenic Bacteria, Fungi, and Parasites. Infectious diseases are spread through a variety of different methods, including through the air, through direct contact with an infected person, or through contact with an organism that is harboring the harmful microorganism. Some examples of infectious diseases include the flu and the common cold.

In the episode "Storytelling", Jake falls ill due to an unknown disease, and tells Finn that the only way to cure him is to come up with a story to tell him. At the end of the episode, Jake was healed by Finn's story, but Finn ended up becoming infected. In the episode "Simon & Marcy", it was revealed by Marceline that she became ill as a child, and she was cured after Simon fed her chicken soup. In the episode "Wizards Only, Fools", Starchy comes down with the common cold, and refuses any other cure other than magic, requesting a cold spell in particular. At the end of the episode, Starchy is tricked into being injected with medicine that helped him to fight the disease. In the episode "All's Well That Rats Swell", Finn becomes infected with an infectious disease after being bitten by a rat. At the end of the following episode, "Have You Seen the Muffin Mess", the microorganisms fuse with Princess Bubblegum's muffin nanites to form the Muffin Giant. In the episode "Helpers", it was revealed that Dr. Gross accidentally introduced a virus to Founders' Island that eradicated 62% of of its human population, as well as 100% of its Helpers. This led one of the last surviving Helpers, Minerva, to upload her mind to the internet and create robotic copies of herself in order to preserve the remaining humans.
