Hi Park, when creating a page you need to follow the page layout rules (I'll insert a screenshot here).
While I thank you for all your contributions to the wiki I have had to correct some of your other edits due to these issues.
First the page layout:
When your editing pages you tend to leave no spaces between the last few headers. This can cause the page's source code to appear cluttered and disorganized refer to the screenshot below. When editing make sure to leave/make those spaces in there. So when making/creating page in the future keep that in mind.
Next are images. Some/most of the images you have been uploading are fine in quality (thank you for reuploading the ones that weren’t) however if the wiki had a model sheet of that character there is really no need for a screenshot of that character especially if the character is a minor character or a single an appearance character. If the character only has one image on that page (example aroma ghost) that is also used for the infobox image do not use that same image to put in the gallery even if cropped. Model sheets are a different story when turned transparent they are great for infobox and when kept grey they can still go in the Offical gallery section since they would qualify as two separate images.
Gallery orientations are kind of touch and go. What I mean is that if you have just a few ( some number around 3/4 or even less) there is no need to put the orientation tag just the normal gallery code.
Hey so I updated the source code that I paste for the wikis I do. So I was wondering if I could start crediting voice actors for pages such as demons/skeletons cause often background characters of that species have their voices credited so I was gonna put a character block underneath their species into and then write down their actors, if that's ok?
Update: I'm working to find better image quality, the images that I'm uploading right now are way better in quality, but I'm using the screen shots that I got from the gallery of said episodes. Could either of you link me a better quality source to obtain better image quality from?
Update: If any images are found to be of low quality, then they will soon be updated, don't worry I'm working to find a source that'll give me better resolution. Apologies for my file names, how do I change them?
You need to change the files' name before you upload them, because renaming file name can only done by admins. There is also an official Adventure Time channel in YouTube, although not all episodes are there, there are still some videos with 1080p.
Hi Parker thank you for trying to help the wiki, but the wiki does not need a Villains category, a thief category, or an Evil creatures category. I do thank you for trying to help but I am going to need you to undo all those edits. However you can keep your edit count up, I will not rollback your edits becuase they were made in good faith, you just didn't know better.
Hi! Thanks for reaching out! Sorry, I’m a very organizey-kinda guy and I love exploring the idea of villains in shows, and recently had gotten into adventure time. I’m very sorry for messing up the whole categories thing!
Before I begin undoing I did spend a whole 2 days editing, is there anywhere that I can transfer this data? If I may speak my peace, I think that what I added isn’t that harmful to the wiki and I did give it a lot of thought, I’m very upset to see it have to be taken down.(It does show that I added 3 to the evil creatures category but I added 3 back because I want to transfer before I begin undoing) I was also wondering if we could talk about it more before I undo everything?
Of course no problem, I totally understand. Is that we have had people add a Villians category and while I don't really mind most of the other admins seem to disagree on adding the category. Labeling characters as Evil is subjective, most of these characters we only see for a few scenes so labeling the evil is kind of unfair. It happens a lot on other wikis that sometimes pages get too too organized as then they have to make up categories for those categories and so forth, that is what I am worried about. As for the Theif category, it just isn't needed. When people come to the wiki we want to add categories for convenience for our users. For example, we have a category for Main characters. When readers come they want to know who is a main character they don't really care if a character is classified as a thief. Does that make sense? I completely understand your frustration and I know these edits were made in good faith, that's why you are still 100% welcome to edit articles and so forth.
Yeah, the subjectivity is what I thought, that’s why I made thieves and evil creatures so make it a little more specific then just villain. I can totally see what you mean about the thief category and I’ll totally get rid of that but the thing about the other two is that it was specified by the series that those creatures were evil, I could be subjective but at the end of the day their initial purpose is pretty plain to see.
Well I think that it's necessary for this reason: there's a difference between villains and creatures that preform evil tasks simply because of nature. When it comes to villains, their evil acts comes from conscious decisions to do so, while creatures such as the Slime Monster or the Heart Beast were born to do evil. It's their purposes to preform these deeds, and that's were contraversy can come in. In season 1 episode 5, for example, we are told that their is a line between good, neutral, and evil creatures, when Finn asks Evil Guy whether or not the Heart Beast and the Ant. The soul purpose of these two creatures was do demonstrate the line between good and evil. And we continue to later see in season 1 these creatures existing just to be evil. Let me say for example, again, the Slime Monster. His only category would be "minor characters", but I would go as far as to say he deserves to have a more specific category than that. I feel that evil creatures has a balance between being specific yet general, it's the right fit for people trying to find the characters in that category. To conclude, I think that this category is necessary because those particular characters would only fit that description, and there is quit a handful of them.
I talked to the other admin we will see if they respond. If these categories are to be officially added to the wiki than I’d like everyone on board (including myself obviously) before, doing things that are this drastic.
My admin friends seem to be offline at the moment and haven't responded. So I have come to the conclusion that the wiki can keep the villains category. However the Evil creatures and Theif category we don't need as those are basically already subgroups of the villains catagory.
