I think the DVD release order is the way to go, but I left more of my thoughts there just a few moments ago. I agree, this is something that has to be resolved so we can keep on making the wiki a better version of its already good self!
Hey thanks for all your work on the transcripts recently! You're doing a great job, keep at it! I'll see if I can help you out on some too. Oh and I saw you in chat. I'm in there now if you wanna chat.
Well, I'm not always around because of the different time zone.
But anyways, I edited them from the samples of Springfield, and because this transcript is very long, I'm afraid if there's a limit of parameters (or whatever limit). I heard that the finale is actually made up by four-parters, but I haven't seen a good reason to split them up.
Don't worry about the template. It can handle an unlimited number of parameters. So even though the episode is 44 minutes (4x 11 min episodes) roughly, it'll be just fine. There shound't be any limits you need to worry about anywhere.
Well, there's another problem: after I finish this transcript (probably will still take a while), I need advice about "Characters" list in same page. There are so many characters even only for those having lines, but I don't see a parameter to list "main" characters only.
Does this mean that it has to update too? Because I don't know whether those cameo/mentioned characters should be added there too.
Frankly, there is no parameter for main characters, though I think there should be. I can add that to the template.
As far as the actual character list, honestly I had the same problem. I'm not sure what level of importance they should go in, and the lack of main/minor/cameo.
Lemme discuss this with Bellamybug, our most veteran active user here, and then I'll get back with you on it. Of course you're always welcome to take part in the discussion yourself! This is a community after all!
Oh and lastly, I completed the transcript! I split them up into 4 paragraphs , "Act I" to "Act IV", because in the video I have, there are some brief CN ads and I believe they were when and how CN refers them as "4 episodes".
Well, it's because the standard episode length was 11 minutes -- 11 times 4 is 44, and with commercials' time added, the time equates to one hour, filling the block rather nicely.
However I don't think we should split the transcript into "acts". It isn't a play or a movie, even though it's the final episode. It's just longer because it has to make a solid enough conclusion to the series.
Alright, regarding the "Act" issue. Separating the transcript into acts makes it seem too similar to a play, I think we can leave them out and just have one long transcript. We could have names/titles for the different sections, but I think it would be fine to leave it as is.
Now, regarding how important a character actually is. In my opinion, it could be a good idea to list all of the characters but differ them by adding a (major), (minor), or (cameo) next to their name. Another way is, we could list only the characters that have speaking line(s) and differentiate them by that.
For example, if Shelby had only one speaking line than he would be considered a minor character (and the (minor) would go next to his name). Another example would be Finn. If it is noted that he had many, many speaking lines during the episode, than he would be considered a major character, and so forth.
These are just a few rough ideas I had. But, this is a tricky matter, so I am, of course, open to debates!
That seems fine... a bit (too?) simple even. Maybe like this:
[[Come Along With Me#Characters|See list]]
Edit: I read some templates about historic people in Wikipedia, in short, there's parameter listing the persons' children, and sometimes a link "more..." is also added, to link to his illegitimate children. Similarly, maybe Main Characters are still listed, but for the rest, use "See list" or "More..."
I like the idea that we should limit the list of characters on the Transcript page to just the main ones. No one goes to the transcript to get a comprehensive list of characters, so to reduce clutter, I say we should just list those with major roles, then a 'See more' after that.
It does?? Yeah that's probably just the number the designer went to figuring we shouldn't need more than that. It's like that quote div css I made, which only goes as many levels deep as I programmed into it. I think you have to code in the number of iterations.
It looks like whoever made it just never got around to adding the rest up to 40 like shown in the doc example. I'll go ahead and do that.
Thanks for replacing all those low-quality images.
If it's easier, you can also use the Replace function (if they are the same file type), which is in the dropdown next to the Edit button, and then rename the file after. This will save you the step of marking it for deletion and save me the step of deleting the old one, and it will also help keep your list of deleted contributions short.
Yeah, as far as I can tell, something doesn't work the way it used to anymore like Bellamybug said it should... I've tried to replace an image just recently and ran into new and weird error messages. Thanks stupid new Wikia staff... Ahem, I mean FANDOM staff!
The discrepancy is due to the way Cartoon Network divided up Season 7. CN decided that Season 7 should only have 26 episodes, but the writers considered Season 7 to comprise "Bonnie & Neddy" through "Reboot" (total of 39 episodes). This shifted subsequent episodes. So "officially" there are 10 seasons, but we decided some years ago that we as a wiki would base things on what the writers say over what CN says, as Chase said above.
Also, for the record, what Chase said above I think means: "This wiki", not Wikipedia.
Oh and also, this thing happened a while ago but, so, I just want to note that the other reason for this discrepancy is also in part due to season 5 being a double season that was considered two by CN but not the creators. In addition to what Bell said there about the other seasons' weirdness!
