"Hug Wolf" is the eighth episode in season four of Adventure Time.
Synopsis
After an encounter with a Hug Wolf, Finn goes through a Jekyll and Hyde-like transformation, becoming a hug wolf himself!
Plot
Finn and Jake Start this episode exploring the woods and trying to find and slay the evil blight tree. They find it when suddenly Finn gets caught by a "Hug Wolf". Jake kills the evil tree and the Hug Wolf runs away (after being hit on the snout by a burning blight tree seed pod) and the two protagonists return home.
Later, at their tree house, Finn starts to act strange and develops a fever. BMO acts scared and hides behind a plant, claiming that Finn hugged him really hard. Jake tells the feverish Finn to go to bed as it could help. He goes to bed and starts moving around, hugging his pillow, and acting uncomfortable. The camera pans to show the window which shows the full moon, and a howl is heard.
A cut scene to the next day, Finn (who is feeling better) and Jake are picking up candy litter to the Candy Kingdom which they plan to eat for lunch, when suddenly, Cinnamon Bun walks up to Finn and begs, "Please don't hug me again, Finn! My love handles are still hurting from last night!" Finn, confused, asks, "What are you talking about? I was asleep all night last night". They all laugh as Finn makes fun of "crazy old Cinnamon Bun". Then they finish their candy.
Finn and Jake are home again, but this time Finn feels like hugging. Jake starts to wonder if the wolf that hugged him might have transformed Finn into a hug wolf so he gets a book out and reads a page explaining about the Hug Wolf. They discover that Finn must, every night, fufill his crazy hug lust. There is no known cure for this transformation. Finn starts to hug Jake and he freaks out when Finn suddenly is going through his transformation again. Finn runs out of the house and he goes into the Candy Kingdom and breaks into a little gumdrop girl's room and attempts to hug the little girl when her dad walks in with a candy cane gun and attempts to shoot Finn but he gets away.
Finn wakes up in a stream in the Candy Kingdom with Jake over him and he asks "What happened?". Jake replies "You hugged everyone!" The Candy People are on the bridge over the stream are yelling at Finn. Finn then asks the Candy People to lock him up in the Candy Kingdom Dungeon, (which they do) saying, "I have always wanted to keep all of you safe, but if I'm the one doing this, then I must be locked away". They lock him in the dungeon and Jake and a few Candy People make a mob to go after the Alpha Hug Wolf. Cinnamon Bun is put in charge of keeping Finn locked up.
After they leave, the moon comes out, and Finn changes into a Hug Wolf. Finn asks Cinnamon Bun if he wants a hug, and he replies, "No, I don't want one. You'll hurt me again," Finn inquires, "Not even a little one?" Then Cinnamon Bun replies, "YES!" and starts opening the cage. After opening the door Finn jumps out and gives Cinnamon Bun a huge hug, hurting him. Finn then runs away. It cuts to the mob finding the alpha hug wolf. Jake says, "I smell someone being hugged right now," and a deer is being hugged by the wolf. Jake and the mob start yelling. Finn appears, jumps on the alpha wolf, and starts hugging the it. Apparently the hug was the cure, and they both turned back to their rightful bodies. The alpha hug wolf turns into a humanoid girl who Jakes asks "Can I have a hug?" then, the girl humanoid turns into a blight tree and the episode ends.

Trivia
- This is the fifth time Finn lost his humanity, the first being "Trouble in Lumpy Space," the second when he was turned to crystal in "Crystals Have Power," the third when he turned into a cat in "Wizard Battle," and the fourth was in "Daddy's Little Monster."
- This is the first time BMO said the line "Oh my Glob."
- When Jake pulled out a book to look up hug wolves, it said Bestiarium Vocabulum, which means "Compendium of Beasts".
- It is revealed that BMO has a strobe-light mode.
- This is the first episode in which someone other than an antagonist tries to kill Finn.
- At the beginning of the episode, the Alpha Hug Wolf runs away because a flaming piece of the Evil Blight Tree lands on its face. That piece may have been infected with evil. That would explain why the girl humanoid transformed into the tree at the end of the episode.
