Kind of a big story.

First of all, I believe that "Adventure Time" happens after the apocalypse caused by a nuclear war (you can see three* nuclear bombs at the intro of the show), during the episodes you can see in background cars destroyed, skeletons everywhere, and lots of technological stuff and buildings that seen to belong to a long forgotten world.

In "Ocean of Fear" you can see a sunken city ond the bottom of the sea and a dried sea in "The Other Tarts" full of ships, giving even more evidence that they belong to a very old civilization.

So what happened to the humans?

Most of them died, as seen in "Her Parents" humans are pretty much extinct, and Finn never found another human. Some humans mutated into some more, in "The Other Tarts" a bunch of zombie’s attack Finn in a cave, and in "Susan Strong" he found a bunker (most likely a nuclear bunker) who evolved into fish people from living underground for so long; the race was dubbed "the Hyoomens".

Finn came from the bunker, since he was found in the forest; humans are a really rare species in Ooo.All the tribe wears animal themed hats; this could be the symbol of the tribe, explaining why Finn could have his hat.But then how does Finn get to the surface and why was he taken there?

He was obvious not taken there by his tribe, seeing how all the bunker people where afraid of grass, meaning it was their first time on the surface.

I believe he was expelled from his tribe because he was not a "fish person". Unlike his family, he was born a full human, possibly a disease of a non-Hyoomen baby being born of a Hyoomen.

From here I have two theories.

First is that the tribe tried to kill Finn since he was not a Hyoomen, (they did not try to kill Finn in Susan Strong because of his hat, and they though he was a Hyoomen), but his mother took him and ran to the surface. Scared of the light, the tribe didn't follow. What happens after that is a mystery.

The second theory is that they drown all the kids born as humans (something to do with being a Hyoomen, or something to do with traditions is my guess why.)

Finn floated to the outside of the bunker though a crack in the earth wall. This was a perilous journey, what with the Hyoomens and being underground and everything, so this would explain Finn's fear the sea (it's like the large underground river.)

After that everything is pretty simple, stated in the episodes. Finn was found in the forest by Jake's parents, and was raised by them. Finn later moved out with Jake and came to live in the tree house.

What about magic? It seems that magic always existed in Ooo. In the episode "The Chamber of Frozen Blades", Finn finds a ninja book from before the war. In it, he learns techniques very similar to the Ice King's powers (which were bestowed upon him from the magic crown). Magic powers may have come about after all technology had been destroyed and living things were more connected with the forces of nature.

I guess this is it, I hope its easy to read since English is not my first language and you can enjoy my little theory, feel free to give me some feedback, thanks!

One more theory. This could all be just an hallucination by the Ice King because he said the ice crown gave him hallucinations. Before he put the crown on he was somewhere that looked like Europe.

TL, DR: Adventure time occur after a nuclear war. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.66.178.191 (talkcontribs)

Yes the creator has said that Adventure Time is set after a nuclear war and that all the humans mutated and/or died. felinoel ~ (Talk) 03:29, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

COMA THEORY[]

Finn used to be a normal boy in the normal world, in a poor family with financial problems, then got into a coma and was lost inside his mind with his imagination, and his dog, a golden retriever named jake who was the only one who actually cared for him.... The world was obstructed because he never really saw much and he just interpreted it as what he saw out of windows, in his backyard, and his imagination, which is the explanation of the cars, other "humans (fish people)" and the magic and candy and weird other species people are just his imagination, and monsters are his fears and superstitions. The princesses represent what he used to like, bubblegum, clouds (lumpy princess), dogs, building blocks, playdough, and more princesses. His mother was the only one who took care of him, besides his dog, but didn't love him much with all her financial problems, which is why her voice and herself is refrenced often in the series.

So, to wrap it all up, Finn is a poor kid stuck in a coma, with his imagination, likes, memories, fears, and most important of all, his dog, Jake.

Hope you enjoyed this and I hope I didn't ruin the show for you,

I laugh at these generic coma theories - the real story is actually far darker. Icanhascheezeburger (talk) 20:37, December 15, 2012 (UTC)

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THAT?!? age is irrelevant! im gonna try to say this nicely... how the f-flip do you know peps ages, he-heck you could be talking to a 7 year old girl or a 80 year old man for all you know. and why the f-flip do you fkn go on theories if all you want to do is put them down, and harras them for coming up with a super intellegent thing! sorry i get a little touchy with these kind of things, but i think i should metion that, Randomtoon4ever (talk) 07:46, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

P.S. that was @ 184.56.8.154 and the coma theory is one of those annoying endigs where it was all a dream. ya those make me sad, Randomtoon4ever (talk) 07:49, December 19, 2012 (UTC)

I really love the crazy theories that are so convincingly made that you can't ever look at the show the same way. This is not one of those.

But in all seriousness now, Icanhascheezeburger hit the nail right on the head, you can't get much darker than the near extinction of all humanity at the hands of a being designed to anihilate all life. 109.67.190.87 23:14, January 6, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, um well, there is NO need to rage quit. LOOK UP at the title. This is a COMA theory, not an advertising board. If you really like your little ideas, then can you PLEASE just make it on a new  topic, and thanks if you actually will. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the constructive critisism, but just post the theory on a new topic please.

To the guy about the coma theory[]

So are u saying that finn is a pryo because he loves flame princess and u are saying that loves fire in the "real world" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.1.188.192 (talkcontribs)

Good counterstory Blugo34 :D. Okay, so Finn encountered a small lit wax candle when he was young, and he loved how it flickered and shined so beautifully (Finn thinks Flame Princess is beautiful in some episodes), but whenever he made contact with it, he would get burnt, and more importantly hurt.. (Hugging, kissing... um etc...) And that is why the Flame Princess is like that. 74.90.29.125 20:39, January 15, 2013 (UTC)AURA

Okay, so Finn is a kid in a coma. Well, there are several things wrong with the coma theory.

Finn DOESN'T know or remember any of his relatives or past life in the "real" world. That means he was in a coma ever since he was a child, or technically, a baby.

If he was a baby when he fell into a coma, how does he know about nukes, demons, Mars, English language, fourth dimension, Earth's core, wars, other universes, comets, asteroids, Abraham Lincoln, love, "Earth travels around the Sun", souls, vampires, all those radioactive and explosive materials, godlike beings...

There are many elements in the show that just can't get in a baby's head...

And if Finn loves fire, why doesn't he fall in love in all the Fire Elementals he meet, and why doesn't he go all like "I am hypnotised by the beauty" when he sees a fire?

Also, Adventure Time has complex plot and emotions. Have you seen "I Remember You"? I don't think that a baby can make such a sad story, do you?

Again the list about the nukes and demons goes on and on...

Your theory is all about speculation. Where's the logic? Where are the connections? Where are the gaps in the storyline?

Adventure Time is full of dark elements. No one can forget them.

This is why I don't think the coma theory is true. Well, everyone has an opinion.77.29.250.88 18:17, January 23, 2013 (UTC)The Omega Effect can erase ANYONE!!!!
