Well, I myself am sad to see this theory go, I thought for sure that Jake was JTD. But the Suitor showed some pretty compelling evidence against it. You may have noticed, when Brocco opened the crypt of his "father's father--amongst his most dearest possessions he kept a book, containing every secret of seduction through superficiality." The title, 'Mind Game by Jay T. Doggzone', is clearly visible.
Jake is known to be roughly the same age as Finn (as seen in pictures where they are both young), so if Jake is JTD, then how on earth did he write a book about manipulating the minds and hearts of women so long ago that a copy of the book is now locked in a crypt, being held by a skeleton?
If that still doesn't convince you, well Brocco's father is shown as a skeleton as well. So, his father has been dead long enough to now be a skeleton, and his father's father had a copy of Mind Game. Still not enough? Brocco was sitting at the head of the line of suitors, having inherited the position from his father. The second guy in line claimed to have been waiting for 300 years, so Brocco's father must have been in line before that. Making Brocco's grandfather ancient.
So, barring some very strange events, it seems unlikely Jake could have written that book. OpusGlass (talk) 05:28, May 28, 2013 (UTC)
That edition in The Suitor was clearly written by Joshua the Dog. It's a legacy pasted down through the Dog generations. EvergreenFir 05:52, May 28, 2013 (UTC)
The three-hundred years line was a joke. Seriously, people, we're watching Adventure Time. What else do you think we're watching?
Also, how do you know Braco's grandfather didn't die just recently? The skeleton isn't a proof. Braco is a Candy Person, so his grandfather was one too. Candy Person anatomy isn't human anatomy. The candy may have merely melted.
Let the party begin! File:Kool & The Gang - Celebration .
Perhaps Joshua is JTD. But 'clearly'? I think that's a stretch.
And as for the 300 years thing, yeah it was funny and in that sense it was a joke, but a big part of Adventure Time is the backstory. The writers are aware that fans make a really big deal out of the more serious parts of AT, especially the backstory, so I doubt they would carelessly place a misleading joke like that.
And true, being a skeleton isn't solid confirmation that Brocco's grandfather died a long time ago, but I have a feeling it was intentionally placed there as an easter egg--evidence that JTD is not Jake, thereby prolonging the mystery. OpusGlass (talk) 22:05, June 1, 2013 (UTC)
