In the original pilot of adventure time, Jake mentions that he is 28 years old. Now, this is unknown whether it is counted in dog years or whether it is human years. In dog years, he would be 4. Either way, his age would not make sense. Now, I personally think that the idea of dog years would most likely get lost over years after many people being wiped out from the mushroom war and a lack of humans but it could have stayed through tribes of humans like the ones that Finn must have been left from. The reason Jake's age would not make sense is because, in the episode, "Dad's Dungeon", Finn and Jake are shown together, as babies. Finn is 13, so if they were born around the same time and grew up together, Jake could not be 28 or 4. Possible ways of this happening could be because Jake stayed with the appearance of a baby for a long period of time or because his mother and father lied to him about his age. Why don't you share your thoughts and theories in the comments?

well Finn and Jake are shown to have been born at pretty much the same year at least.Jake probably ages at a little more than double then Finn.maybe 2 and a half years every year or something close to that. But youth is probably a different subject because Jake states that he will live another 100 years easy.So his youth rate is unknown.
Um, no Jake's 28 in MAGICAL dog years, so that makes it different Hunt8r (talk) 20:15, August 1, 2013 (UTC)hunt8r
Even if Magical Dog Years are the same as Regular dog years , they could of been lost in years . Also , dogs years aren't just x7 in human years , they grow up fast and s low down , which could also be another explantion . Darkness (talk) 16:15, September 6, 2013 (UTC) Dark-XV
I remember hearing somewhere that dog years is 15 years for the first year, 10 years for the second year and 5 years every year after that, but it depends on the dog breed as well. Either way, if Jake is chronologically the same age as Finn(14-15), he'd be around 85 or 90. If you do the x7 thing, he'd be 98 or 105.Either way is quite old, and Jake definitely isn't that old.
If you divide 28/12(their ages at the beginning according to the pilot and the dvd special feature), it's 2 1/3, so maybe that's the rate he ages? That means he'd be around 35 right now.

- As was said, he is counting magical dog years. That is different than regular dog years. File:♪ Screw the Nether (Moves Like Jagger Parody). ƒelinoel_ 02:48, October 1, 2013 (UTC)
- In several episodes (such as Dungeon Train), Jake is seen alive when Finn is an elderly man. If he aged like a regular dog, he would have died a long time before that (a Pug's life span is between 12 and 15 years). If he aged like a regular dog, he'd be dead before the Pilot even began.Accidental (talk) 06:05, October 4, 2013 (UTC)
- Again, Jake is a magical dog and it is canon that he ages in magical dog years, not regular dog years. File:♪ Screw the Nether (Moves Like Jagger Parody). ƒelinoel_ 11:36, October 4, 2013 (UTC)
