Do you have any sources? Cookinggumgum O.o.O.o.O 03:25, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, this is the kind of thing where we're unlikely to get confirmation from a reliable source. So even though this is potentially information worth keeping, we have no idea whether it's true or not. --Cornprone 03:33, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Should we consider this fan fiction? Adventure Time hehe name taken? 12:15, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

As an Australian, I can confirm that these changes were made. However, the stuff at the start about it being to conform to Australian laws is pure misinformation. 124.148.213.157 05:13, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Skepticism

Some of these censorships don't really make sense. Like in "Her Parents," why would the scene where Ethel mentioning Lady and Jake dating be cut? On the Cartoon Network Australia website, the character profiles include that they are dating eachother. This also means that censoring Princess Bubblegum saying she used to date someone is highly unlikely. Cutting out the scene of Mrs.Cow's Phil Face udder is just silly. There's nothing innappropiate about that. And really... censoring "sucks"? I'm not sure if all(or any) of these are legit. Cookinggumgum O.o.O.o.O 19:56, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I told User:Jerryjackson42 that we could keep this page, because I believed he was sincere. Unfortunately, we also can't independently verify it, unless anybody knows somebody in Australia, or we can find Australian versions of the videos online. The videos on the CN Australia website are not viewable by me, because they're locked out from viewers in other regions. So I don't know what to do, but video proof of at least one of these episodes would be nice. --Cornprone 00:43, October 6, 2011 (UTC)
Well, of course the 'veril' bit from "What Have You Done?" was going to be cut clear out of the sky! 175.39.0.217 12:00, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Look, man, I think it is ridiculous myself. I don't see why exactly that Australia has decided to cut out all of these particular scenes, but it is true, and I'm sorry that I can't seem to find proof. Adventure Time is just one of those new shows that has many things Cartoon Network Australia censors don't favour. It's just going to be the same thing with Regular Show that going to be airing on the 6th! Who knows, maybe The Problem Solverz will get hit with censorship when it comes to CNA. All I do know for sure is that there are censors on Adventure Time, and I guess it won't be accepted until you have proof. Good luck finding it, but for now, ciao. ABOBO 10:02, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

When Fascism comes to the Land of Ooo, it will be wrapped in an Australian Flag, carrying a Hot Cross Bun covered in Vegemite.

The proof will be revealed when someone at 4chan /co/ uploads screenshots of the show being altered visually. The Australian government seems to use George Orwell's 1984 as a handbook (something NO free democracy should be doing!). For instance, the filtering of Internet content. These are things that back home in the United States should not be tolerated! (On a related note, help stop this silliness. Visit AmericanCensorship.organd contact your elected officials to stop the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) from shutting down sites like the Adventure Time Wiki!) The Aussies are still freaking out as to the amount of *cough*"Rule 34" content there is on the Internet as well as women who aren't according to the Australian Government Censors "well-endowed enough" for them to consider women. (True story about that. It's sexist and wrong!) There's a whole list of things wrong with how Australia is doing this stupid censorship thing considering most of the real truly illegal Internet activity that still goes on even when the offenders aren't using software like Tor to cover their tracks. (Things that can't be mentioned on this wiki they are that horrible!)

Never the less, Adventure Time fans Down Under should not tolerate the abridged versions of this show. As much as some parents would like to think that Cartoon Network is a network for children (which for the most part it is during the day), it is really a network devoted to animation. The past few years, I'm glad that someone at CN and Turner has realized that and that if Mom and Dad are looking for their kids to live in the Walled Garden, they should either set the TV rating settings to below TV-PG levels such that they can't even let their kids watch the brainless mush that is now on Nickelodeon and Disney. (Thank Glob that Cartoon Network doesn't have anyone like iCarly or Hanna Montana to make parent's lives miserable when they watch TV with their kids...yet.) --MrHacks 02:19, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

DOes anyone else agree that it was a little ridiculous to censor the words "Totally", "Jam", and "Sucks"? The first two aren't even inappropriate, and "sucks" isn't really inappropriate unless you put it with other words. 50.54.136.48 02:15, February 27, 2012 (UTC)

Aussie Adventure Time fan here, and I can verify that CNA censors alot of this stuff. Though I don't have video proof, take my word that it is being censored and the CNA are wads. It is completely ridiculous, and half of the biz that they censor is just nonsense. To be honest with you, I have Foxtel and Cartoon Network, but I watch Adventure Time online. I'd rather be considered a "pirate" than not be able to watch Adventure Time as it was supposed to. I HATE AUSTRALIAN T.V!

CNA should censor some of these stuff that are not censored, and "sucks" ALWAYS gets "PG: Parental Guidance". You think Diesel 10 from Thomas the Tank Engine says it? No.

CN Rating

Adventure Time         PG (13 sometimes)

Regular Show           PG (13, more than Adventure Time)

Gumball                   Y7 (year seven(?))

Thoughts from an Australian

Just had a quick look at the list, seems like the kind of stuff TV stations would do to fit in more commercials.

That being said, I'll record a bunch of episodes when they come on air and compare them to a TVRip from America or something... then we'll have final confirmation on whether CN Australia cuts out stuff for whatever reason. Fieldafar 08:54, January 30, 2012 (UTC)

I have personally seen the episode where the Ice King kisses Jakes' butt and it skips the scene jarringly but they talk about it as if it just happened. Regular Show is also censored my brother tells me, he's watched the US version and the AU version. 123.2.121.197 03:12, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

this is so lame! grr peeps r imbeciles.Paris-the-adventurer 17:16, February 6, 2012 (UTC)

Good thing I don't live in Australia! 99.54.88.204 14:00, February 18, 2012 (UTC) 9:00, February 18, 2012 (EST).

one night I saw the intro for Fionna and Cake but not the episode and I live in Australia why??

Me too. This is because that the episode you watched, "What Was Missing", was paired up with "Fionna and Cake" when it aired in America. The Harbinger, President of the UAOACC 06:42, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

Just so you Americans know, it is censored because in Australia, Cartoon Network is a children's channel and it is aired in a timeslot when children are awake. It therefore needs to be appropriate for young children. If it aired on a different channel or only late at night, it wouldn't be a problem. It's not a matter of Australian laws or over-the-top censorship or anything, it's just directed at a different audience here. 149.144.136.140 01:16, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

I found this censorship very out of place in Australian TV culture, though we do prefer "mild" entertainment, I never thought we were some blanket society. I did understand the censorship of some of the phrases and parts in Adventure Time that would be deemed too sexualised for the younger audience but blocking out phrases like "Aw, shucks" and "Patoot" is just odd. Can someone please explain how "Aw, shucks" will damage Australia's youth? Please?

Keep it clean

I honestly feel for all you Aussie fans out there for AT and I feel that the censorship is excessive. Very excessive... Lets try to keep this page free of personal opinion because it will be more impacting if it is mroe professional. Anyone else agree?

Also, trying to find a citation to back up CNAustralia censoring AT.

Sehirosu 06:35, February 13, 2012 (UTC)

ANOTHER MEMBER: It is very unfair indeed, the 'Fisherman Song' in Henchmen in Australia should be looked up... I heard it (I'm an Aussie) on TV and I was like 'what?' then I heard about the censorship, and I looked up the whole song on YouTube. Seriously, I hate this stupid excessive censorship, that, in every Aussies opinion, is unfair.

Whodunit time

When I read the statement regarding Cartoon Network Philippines in this article, I thought it's time to guess about who performs censor. Is it Cartoon Network in Australia, or Turner Asia Pacific (owner of Cartoon Network channels across Asia Pacific), or if UK viewers also get same censored version like this, is the version made for international exports? 211.234.219.24 09:54, February 13, 2012 (UTC)

UK AT fan here! No, UK gets OCCASIONAL censors with AT, MORE THAN USUAL with RS, and TAWOG, HARDLY THAT MUCH. Some viewers get the CNA version (strict), UK (moderate), US (only censor when nescassary).

UK gets their own hardly censored versions. 17:15, January 17, 2013 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.2.93.83 (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~.

Shaved Time makes page looked cluttered

It isn't necessary for such a small space of information to have its own header. Just place the shaved time under the episode header. -- Bunai82 (talk) 00:33, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

A Question from a Yank.

Why is the show censored? I've heard that censorship rules in Australia are way more lax than in the US. Now I'll agree that new shows drop the pretense that older ones had; is the reason because it's a children's show? 99.92.76.100 03:47, February 27, 2012 (UTC)

To be honest with you, there are several theories on why they do this:

  • To make more time for commercials
  • To satisfy their CEO, who does not like these recent shows
  • To appease their young audience

And others. I am the creator of this page, and I intend to bring down this otherwise illegal activity. 175.39.3.220 11:36, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

I was reading the page, and it seems that most of the censoring consists of chopping out anti-parent, relationships, and a few chosen words. It also seems, for the most part, constant in what is censored. Also, it seems like it's only a few seconds, except in extreme cases. I say this, only because I don't fully beleive that it's done for advertising. I don't live, nor have been to Australia, so I don't know about the advertising down under, but the censoring seems more geared towards basic censorship reasons and not to eek out another 10 seconds of advertising. 99.92.76.100 23:29, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

I have been curious on if the censorship was taking place since the show began in Australia or if it has been recent. To me, I'll agree with one of the options listed by the 1st reply. Generally, it seems logical to adjust it for younger audience, as well as the possibility for the CEO to have a stick up his bum over the new shows. I'm not sure how much commercials there are out there... but still. It seems ridunculus to overly censor some of the episodes. Some I can understand, but there are many that seem unusal to cut.Sehirosu 05:47, March 12, 2012 (UTC)

Banned from airing

Which episodes have been banned from airing altogether? Marcaline 09:37, March 14, 2012 (UTC)

So far, three episodes have been banned:

203.33.181.135 01:39, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

@#!*% ! Got any sources for this? There's some serious episode banning going on down under. :) Marcaline 10:39, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

My only source is that they don't play those episodes, even though I keep asking them. The Harbinger, President of the UAOACC 06:44, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

After watching King Worm, Lady & Peebles, and You Made Me! I wouldn't be surprised if all new Adventure Time episodes are banned in Australia. They all touched on some very strange issues that many kids wouldn't understand. I think Australian censorship needs to understand that Pendleton Ward is obviously moving to an older audience, so by banning episodes they are merely losing their new demographic to the internet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.144.183.239 (talkcontribs) . Why?

Why?

Why are they censoring funny stuff like the part where Finn says hamacow

It's because of their own rules. The Harbinger, President of the UAOACC 06:39, March 18, 2012 (UTC)

Is the australian dvd censored as well?

Even I don't know. The Harbinger, President of the UAOACC 23:41, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

Why are those stupid Austrailian censor people so paranoid? I mean, the show is rated PG, okay?! That means, no kids under the age of 8, or whatever. They censored the part where Finn said he was getting gasoline, lighter fluid, and other stuff for possessed PB! Were they afraid some kid would be STUPID enough to get those ingredients and drink the mixture?! I mean, COME ON. Besides, younger kids barely have an attention span, so do they really think a kid would catch something like, a sexual joke? Kids won't know anything is up! Glob, this censorship crud really irks me. MCcomics 15:11, July 18, 2012 (UTC)

^lol I was wondering why I totally agreed with that :3 (MC)

Bias

As much as I completely agree with what was written under the "Reasoning" section, I believe that it is biased, and therefore against the Neutral Point of View guideline that this Wiki suggests. As such, I have edited it, and removed some possibly non-neutral text.

Thanks. 108.5.113.135 01:53, March 26, 2012 (UTC)TFSpock

I think that some of the censors are pointless. I've never seen any censored episodes, but they sound awful. They cut waaaaaaay too much. I understand the censors of "make out" or "crotch", but do they really have to remove things like "shucks" or "jam" or "totally"? And I don't think they should have refused to air Fionna and Cake. Now, when the next Fionna and Cake episode comes out, nobody will understand why it focuses on Marshall Lee and not Fionna and Cake. I also doubt that "juveniles will make a mixture of gasoline, lighter fluid, bleach, ammonia, and plutonium and drink it in an attempt to be like PB." I understand why CNA would censor that scene, but it's not like anyone will do that. I don't think that all the censors are necessary. They basically made AT ----! (Lulz I make joke)

ANOTHER MEMBER: Well, don't blame us! It's the stupid Cartoon Network Australia (and all those other channels doing AT) that are doing it! These dumb censorships take out all the humour... urgh, why >.<

About this page on Episode articles

Personal view.

I don't think there needs to be an announced header of censorship on episode articles, for one, it has nothing to do with the US run because it is happening on a different network in a different country. I think links to this page should be placed in trivia. -- Bunai82 (talk) 22:21, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

-.- This is so annoying

I absolutely love Adventure Time! How am I supposed to enjoy it to it's complete epicness though if this is what they're doing?!? There was even talk of completely banning it!!!! I don't know how I would survive. :O

This is UNACCEPTABLE!

His Banned Hero?

I think that his hero's censorship definition is more speculation than anything else.Afliador8 16:03, April 22, 2012 (UTC)

It's just crazy!

I love adventure time but the censoring really annoys me. When they aired Freak City here in the Philippines,I totally remember hearing the monster say "Our Crotch" and then was cut..the next time it aired it totally removed the Our crotch scene..as well as Memory of a memory, at the last scene I remember seeing multiple kicks..then it was made to one..I think that CN Philippines(or asia) is following CN australia censors because maybe its much cheaper to get the copyrights..and It's just very crazy that they would cut harmless words and stuff..also I have noticed something while watching CN shows..When I watched Flapjack(yup still on air in here) I heard the Urchin gang say "sucker" and it was not censored..however, When I watched regular show It was completely cut in the episode "Rigby's Body" so can a "all ages show" say "sucker" but not a "PG" show?its CRAZY!CN Better clean up thier mess or there will be a time where no one will watch this channel anymore

So that's why......

So that's why Fisherman Song lyrics are different.marceline sings up toyou look so cute sitting on your boatthen she plays her guitar.I'm from Philippines. That's why I don't watch His Hero,The Creeps,Jake vs. Me-mow and Ghost princess from tv.I only watched it on mastertoons.com.The prettiest Sunflower 14:53, May 26, 2012

ANOTHER MEMBER: Excuse me? That is a form of racist, please be aware of that.

Why was this page restored?

It has its own wiki for a reason. It is largely unnecessary on a site that is tracking information for North American viewers. -- Bunai82 (talk) 04:51, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Please read this before commenting

I am an Australian viewer of Adventure Time and sadly yes for whatever reason this list of censorships is entirely accurate (as far as I've seen anyway). However please be aware that it is not the Australian Government or the TV Censorship dealy (whose name I have forgotten) that has made these changes as the show completely complies with the code of practice in regards to classification. These changes were made corporate side by Cartoon Network, once again for whatever ridiculous reason. So please don't blame Australia for this, we have thousands of other reasonable faults that make a hell of a lot more sense.

Also just some food for thought:

In the Lumpy Space episode they made all those censorships about the LSP dating that guy but they didnt alter the license plate on the car which said SXY LMP, which I've inferred to be Sexy Lump. Weird that dating is censorship worth and this isn't (if you needed further proof of the incompetency of the censorers) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.146.91.166 (talkcontribs) . In Evicted, the words 'sexy vampire' are still there. Also, I did notice that in the episode Still, The Ice King's foot going into the saucepan was cut. Jamesfollows (talk) 15:27, October 24, 2012 (UTC)

Damn Austrailia

Calm your face, goodness. I'd hate to live there, that's why TV is so confusing...

ANOTHER MEMBER: I know... everytime I sing that anthem I question myself... USA is so much more of opportunity, or the UK, or other places like that...
