I brought this idea up some time last year, but could PB be Simon Petrikov's estranged daughter? Betty, during the brief time she was shown, was pink in color with a seeming affinity for science (indicated by a lab coat, and the presence of a Scientific Parasite), which could indicate a connection between her and the science-loving Bubblegum. Then, too, PB seems to be the Ice King's favorite princess, and he could be drawn to her on more than a superficial level (the "Petrikov" side of him being aware on some level that she and him are connected). It might also be noteworthy that he mistook Marceline's affections toward him as romantic ones, and so may be making a similar mistake with his attraction to PB, confusing his paternal instincts for romantic attraction. There is, of course, a huge time discrepancy here (PB being only 18, and Petrikov being roughly 1,043), not to mention problems with PB recounting some of her relatives' exploits without mentioning Betty or Petrikov. But, it is noteworthy that, as shown in "Too Young", PB can be made younger and older by adding and subtracting biomass, and the process seems to distort her memories to some degree. We have no evidence that such events occured, of course, but this opens up the idea that PB was "reincarnated" periodically for years or even centuries (perhaps even initially through Petrikov's intervention- who knows?), thus allowing her to live on to the present day while losing memories of her parents, who she never seems to talk about. Finally, as one more piece of evidence, in "Simon and Marcy", a pink bubblegum-like substance is stuck to the walls of the alley where Simon and Marcy eventually hide, and it is shown to briefly grow a smiling face and wink at Simon, before (seemingly) conciously giving him a can of chicken soup. Following the theory, this creature may have been Betty or a "younger" PB, before she took on her current form. So yeah- a lot of this seems tenuous, and there's not much evidence, but what do you think? Setras (talk) 05:05, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

We actually do have evidence that PB may very possibly be older than she seems because here suitors are all very old, though they may have been waiting for previous monarchs but it's still possible that she's not actually 18, but simply has the body of one. This theory is possible and would be a good twist but I'm not entirely sure of it. Why wouldn't Simon take his daughter with him on his adventures if she were alive? Also BNSF, don't even talk because your theories are so much more farfetched than this. At least his/hers is actually possible. Doomsdaynger (talk) 05:17, June 22, 2013 (UTC)
- It's possible that Simon wasn't aware he had a daughter back when he was sane- Betty left him, after all. Or, as with Marceline, he left Bonnibel to try and keep her safe from him as he grew steadily more insane. Setras (talk) 05:30, June 22, 2013 (UTC)

Bubblegum's age & parentage were revealed in "Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW!" Which was written by Pendleton Ward & is canon to the TV series. Marceline killed them. Likalaruku (talk)
