Appearance[]
This alternate version of Fern has fair skin, long mint green braided hair with four white flowers in it, and a physique almost identical to Fionna.
She wears a light yellow t-shirt with 3-quarter-length sleeves, and two small white flowers on either side of the shirt's top; dark green short shorts with a white stripe along each side; medium-length white socks; forest green flats; and sometimes an olive-green square backpack.
In "The Lion of Embers" she wears a color-swapped version of Fionna's club outfit, which consists of a dark green long sleeve crop top, a shiny light green miniskirt, knee-high white go-go boots, and a white flower necklace. In this appearance she also has her hair half-up in a ponytail and wears a small flower clip to the right of her bangs.
Personality[]
In her first speaking appearance "The Cat Who Tipped the Box", Fennel tries to compliment Fionna, who ignores her.
In her first major appearance, "The Wolves Who Wandered", Fennel and Fionna work together to find Phelix, who is "missing" for much of the episode. The two of them get closer during their search, getting along incredibly well and being somewhat physically and emotionally intimate. The two of them briefly get so distracted by their affection for each other that they forget about Phelix, breaking down and hugging each other when they are convinced that they killed him. After they stop hallucinating, they awkwardly say goodbye to each other.
From what has been shown so far Fennel appears to be somewhat insecure and nervous, calling Phelix seemingly panicked in "The Bird in the Clock" when DJ Slime jokes about a stalker, starting a man hunt after presumably only one day without seeing Phelix, and expressing her admiration for Fionna's fearlessness. she admits to Fionna that she has "admired [her] for so long", likely hinting at a deeper history between them; a connection of which only Fennel seems to be aware.
Relationships[]
Phelix[]
In "The Lion of Embers", it is revealed that she is dating Phelix. Their current relationship status is unknown after she sees Phelix and Fionna kissing backstage in "The Insect That Sang" and runs away.
Hunter[]
Fennel and Hunter are very close friends, Fennel seems to have known them for a very long time and she expresses her admiration for Hunter's determination.
Fionna[]
Fennel is implied to look up to Fionna, they had a budding friendship and got very close with each other in "The Wolves Who Wandered", but Fionna betrays her trust in the next episode by kissing Phelix in backstage. In "The Bear and the Rose", Fennel reconciles with Fionna which they made amends by becoming friends again which they later be seen going on an adventure together.
