Farmworld is an alternate timeline created when Finn wished that "the Lich never even ever existed" in the episode "Finn the Human". For this to have happened, the mushroom bomb would have had to not go off. In the alternate timeline created by this wish, Simon Petrikov froze the bomb before it was detonated.

As a result, humans continued to thrive, the Lich was never released, and there was no nuclear fallout to create the Land of Ooo.

History[]

The Origins[]

All of the standard timeline's events prior to the Mushroom War occurred, as signified by the existence of pre-War objects like the Enchiridion, and two known survivors of the war: Simon Petrikov (who would become the Ice King in Ooo's timeline) and Marceline. However, during the Mushroom War, a major deviation occurred that changed history.

During an attack where a massive mutagenic bomb, containing a green substance connected to the Lich, was dropped to Earth, Petrikov used the power from his crown to create a vortex that caught the bomb and froze it mid-flight, crushing him in the process. With his death, the ice power within him raged at the loss of its owner, and froze the entire Earth in a pseudo-cryogenic state for 400 years.

Humanity remained the dominant species of the world and various environments continued to exist, including farms and arid areas. Some 600 years after the new Ice Age destroyed civilization, humanity has returned to a more or less medieval level of technology. Humans had achieved some technological advancement, such as the development of prosthetic limbs that can be used as weaponry.

Magic is known as to not presently exist in this world. The ice crown remained dormant from not being used, and Marceline chose to stay underground to protect the crown and the undetonated bomb, and never became a vampire, which would have stopped her aging process as it did in the original timeline. Some of the residents of Ooo would still exist as Humans, such as Choose Bruce and Bobby, who existed as Choose Goose and Billy in the original timeline, due to the mutation of their respective ancestors.

The Destiny Gang[]

For unknown reasons, Martin Mertens was in debt with the Destiny Gang prompting his wife, Minerva to tell their son Finn into selling Bartram, their family mule. Finn was upset but came across the Ice Crown next to the corpse of Simon Petrikov. Marceline then came out and claimed the crown belonged to her and cited its magical powers to which Finn denied existed and took the crown wanting to sell it to the Destiny Gang instead selling Bartram. However, upon entering Junktown, Tromo and Trami members of the gang took the crown without paying him along with Bartram. Marceline followed Finn and was kicked by Tromo prompting Finn and Choose Bruce to fight back as they were all angered by the Destiny Gang and how they bully and control all the residents of the town. Choose Bruce gave Finn a sword to attach to his prosthetic arm so he could fight Big Destiny, head of the Destiny Gang. Finn entered Big Destiny's mansion demanding he have Bartram and the crown back. Big Destiny gave him both back for no fee but proclaimed it would be the last thing he'd own. Big Destiny directs Finn to the window and shows how he ordered that the town be burned down with the entire marketplace being in flames. This prompted Finn to return home quickly worried they were after his parents due to their unpaid debt. Finn along with Marceline, Bartam and Jake returned to the Mertens residence only to find it on fire with Finn's father, mother, and baby brother inside. Members of the Destiny Gang including Big Destiny himself were outside the burning home cheering on their actions.

The Snowman Incident[]

As flames grew on the Mertens' home, Finn worried about his family's safety decided to believe Marceline's about the ice magic of the crown. Against Marceline's wishes, Finn puts on the crown, unaware of its infused madness. Finn's hair and nose grew longer and his eyes turned blue. He immediately uses the ice magic to stop the fire and freezes members of the Destiny Gang as revenge for trying to harm his family. However, Finn unknowingly zaps ice on the frozen mushroom bomb which puts pressure on it and ultimately releases it. Finn was able to survive the mutagenic blast by creating an ice dome around himself. Finn had also frozen Martin, Minerva, his brother and Bartram which allowed them to survive the blast. He released them from the ice but they were terrified upon learning how he accidentally released the bomb and were uncomfortable with his insane behavior. Upon his brother crying, Finn was able to briefly snap out of his madness and had Bartram take his family away from him, insisting he'd be left behind. He then heard Jake howling and approached the sound out of concern. He then saw Marceline's skeleton in a pond of mutagenic waste along with Jake whose body was still intact. Finn in his madness tried to console Jake but he seemed aggressive. Jake then began to aggressively approach him and took on a giant, muscular physique. Jake's dog face was torn off revealing the horned, skeletal face of the Lich. Jake's exposure to the mutagenic waste caused him to become possessed by the spirit of the Lich.

A few years later, Finn continued to descend further into the madness of the Ice Crown. His skin turned blue, his hair white and his teeth became sharp and pointy. At the orders of the Lich-possessed Jake, Finn began to go around freezing the surviving humans bringing them to a common area. Finn became feared around the land by others and he became known as the Snowman. The Lich had promised Finn that they were saving world by using the Enchiridion and the various required jewels. Outside the Farmworld, Prismo became aware of this event and was concerned about it's possible consequences. With Farmworld Finn using the Enchirdion to open a portal to the multiverse, he was concerned about the safety of the other dimensions. However, Prismo was seemingly unaware that the Lich was involved with this scheme. Prismo summoned Finn and Jake of the standard timeline and informed them of the event. Prismo cited that since the world was technically the result of Finn's wish and Jake's guidance they had some responsibility to fix the problem. Prismo gave Finn and Jake a device called the maid to "take care" of the Ice Finn. Upon arrival, Finn and Jake were hesitant to use the Maid on Ice Finn concerned that they would kill him so they decided to simply steal the Enchirdion. Ice Finn freezes Finn and attempts to freeze Jake but they were all interrupted by the sudden arrival of the Jake-Lich. The Lich returned with all the jewels for the Enchirdion and they used them (including the gem of the Ice Crown) to open a portal to the multiverse. The portal opened unveiling every single universe in the multiverse. If entering, one would multiply and enter each dimension. The Lich then revealed to Ice Finn that he was going to kill everybody in each dimension. Ice Finn was upset learning the world would not be saved and that he was tricked. Ice Finn takes back his gem and deactivates the portal and reactivates the Ice Crown. Finn however, uses his Grass Sword and knocks the crown off of Ice Finn. Finn of Ooo tries to snap Ice Finn out his madness. The two then work together and use the Maid on the Lich. This removes the Lich's spirit from Farmworld Jake and he returns back to his standard dog form. Finn and Jake of Ooo are returned to Prismo's Time Room but Finn protests that Prismo helps Ice Finn citing he will continue to be in pain with the Ice Crown. Prismo then teleports the crown out of Farmword Finn's hands and onto the corpse of Simon Petrikov before the bomb goes off so it is destroyed in the ground zero explosion of the mutagenic bomb. Finn of Farmworld is then cured of the Ice Crown and its madness leaving his Snowman persona behind. He is reunited with his family who were released from the ice they were frozen in.

14 Years later Aftermath[1][]

Despite, Finn being freed from the Ice Crown, the Snowman was still viewed as a scary figure throughout the Farmworld. Though the humans seemed to have held up better following the release of the mutagenic bomb compared to the main timeline, the world still entered an apocalypse phase. The humans lived in filth and poverty and the Destiny Gang continued to dominate the town. Finn's past as the Snowman under the influence of the Ice Crown continued to haunt him through adulthood. At one point, he fathered five children with an unidentified woman. His children include a son named, Jay, a daughter named Bonnie, and three unnamed children. At some point later, the mother of the children passed away leaving Finn as a single father. The whereabouts of Martin, Minerva, and Finn's brother are not clear but Jake is still alive and in Finn's care.

Due to a series of events, Simon Petrikov of the Land of Ooo and Fionna and Cake of their dimension were given Prismo's multiversal remote as they were hunted by the Scarab. Simon, Fionna, and Cake first arrived in the Farmworld. The trio had learned that Fionna and Cake's world was inside the head of Simon and created by Prismo. Believing it was for the greater good, Simon believed the best path forward was for him to become Ice King again stating that he'd have the power fight off the Scarab and he'd be immortal which would allow the Fionna-Cake dimension to last forever and wouldn't die when he dies. The trio then looked throughout the Farmworld to track down an Ice Crown. They find the main settlement rather dangerous given it was overrun by the Destiny Gang. Big Destiny claimed that he had defeated the Snowman though this is a lie. Cake's stretchy powers become rather concerning for the residents as they began to resent magic due to the Snowman. Fionna, Cake and Simon are later attacked by gang members but were found by Jay Mertens, the son of Finn. Jay reveals to the group he heard them talking about the Ice Crown and informs them the residents don't like magic. He then reveals that he's taking them to his father who was previously host of the Ice Crown. Finn is intially skeptical of having outsiders in their home given their reclusive nature fearing the Destiny Gang will follow them but nonethless invites them in. During dinner, Simon reveals that they were looking for information about the Ice Crown but Finn refuses given the trauma he experienced under the crown's curse. In this time, the Scarab enters the Farmworld in search of Fionna, Cake and Simon and disguises as a Farmworld human. He reaches the Mertens residence prompting Finn to have Fionna, Cake and Simon leave. However, he learns that Jay had taken them to the epicenter of where the mutegenic bomb was dropped in search of the Ice Crown. The group reached the pit where the bomb went off but learn that the Ice Crown was destroyed in the blast. Little Destiny, the daughter of Big Destiny arrives revealing the she and Jay were in a secret romance. Big Destiny and other gang members later reach the pit along with Finn. However, the group is then interrupted by the arrival of the Scarab. As Fionna, Cake and Simon were exiting the Farmworld with their multiversal remote, Finn's head is crushed by the Scarab.

Following this event, the fate of Finn of Farmworld is not revealed. Later on in "Cheers", Jay and Little Destiny are summoned to Fionna-world by Prismo to help save the world from the Scarab. They succeed in defeating the Scarab and Fionna-world becomes authorized. Jay and Little Destiny prompt to stay in the Fionna-world not wanting to live in an apocolyptic society. However, whether their families were consulted is not known.

Trivia[]

  • The Humans of Farmworld look different than those seen in the standard timeline, as they have more detailed eyes (white circles with black pupils, rather than just black dots) and visible noses.
    • However, some of the Humans seen in Islands were shown to have visible noses but all seem to have black dot eyes (but have more detailed eyes in close-ups).
  • After Jake changed the Lich's wish in "Jake the Dog", it was unknown what happened to the Farmworld dimension. However, in "Crossover", it was revealed that the dimension still exists for unknown reasons.
    • In the original storyboard for "Crossover", it was briefly explained by Prismo that Farmworld still exists because Jake was still in the Time Room when Finn left, so instead of replacing one reality, his consciousness split the primary universe and Farmworld into two realities. A memory of Finn from the prime universe existed in tandem with Farmworld Finn; in other words, the aforementioned paradox was created because Jake remembered the original Finn while Finn also existed in a wish-altered state in Farmworld. Therefore, after Jake made his wish, Finn was returned to the prime universe, but Farmworld continued to exist due to the aforementioned paradox.
