Dream Parasites are arthropodic creatures that exist at the entrance to the Land of the Dead.
In the Distant Lands episode, "Together Again", one of them can first be seen attaching themself to old Finn's body causing him to hallucinate his past life with Jake. Finn is eventually able to shake it off and help the others to get rid of the parasites that were attached to them.
Appearance[]
These creatures appear to have purple spider-like bodies, black-stripped six legs, and seven white eyes. On their backs reside a large white eye with a slit-like iris. Their sucker-like mouths protrude from the front of their faces.
Abilities[]
These creatures have the ability to attach themselves to the bodies of souls and cause them to hallucinate. They do this by attaching their mouths to the heads of their victims and then begin to suck the memories out of them, causing whoever they are attached to to start completely still and enter a dream-like state.
As seen with Finn, this can be overcome if the host discovers the creature on their back during their dream-like state and then pull them off.
