āPrismo |
The Citadel Prisoners, also referred to as The Ancients (by the Lich) or Cosmic Criminals, are a group of various inter-dimensional beings that have committed Cosmic Crimes. Their punishment for committing these cosmic-scale offenses is imprisonment in Crystal Citadel, where they are imprisoned inside of pink crystals by the Citadel Guardians. After the events in the episode "Escape from the Citadel", all of the criminals were freed. By the time of "Prismo the Wishmaster" however, Scarab had neutralized the Void Caster at the very least, implying that he was hunting all of them down after the Citadel's destruction.
Overview[]
In the episode "Wake Up", Cosmic Prisoners were first discussed in the episode Wake Up after Finn asked Prismo where his father was, Prismo revealing that he was imprisoned at the Crystal Citadel. Prismo then went on to explain how the prisoners located here were the worst of the worst, and the only way to get there would be to commit a cosmic crime. Prismo intended to have Finn and Jake wake up his physical form, but the Lich ended up doing it instead. Finn and Jake found themselves at the Citadel where various prisoners could be seen, including the Lich.
In the episode "Escape from the Citadel", the Lich used his powers to melt the crystals and free the other criminals. After some of the prisoners touched the gray substance that the Lich was summoning, they themselves turned gray and presumably came under his control. The criminals immediately began to cause havoc, which was quickly noticed by the Guardians, who immediately began to open fire. This did kill some of the criminals, but the rest managed to escape through a portal cast by a Void Caster.
During the episode, the Lich revealed that he was planning to use the prisoners to form an army that would travel throughout the universe until "every light was extinguished". This was all foiled after Finn healed him with the Guardians white goo.

Trivia[]
- The fate of the creates after they passed through the portal is unknown, although Martin was shown to have survived, as evidenced when he appeared in later episodes.
- A Void Caster and the Bat Creature (although with leaf-like wings) appeared in the Distant Lands episode "BMO". It is possible that these are separate creatures, as Marvin referred to Void Caster as a Void Caster rather than the Void Caster. In addition, there Void Caster that was imprisoned at the Citadel wore a plane cloth rather than a detailed one, and both of these characters originally had color before being turned gray by The Lich (the two in BMO appearing to be gray and not their original colors.)
