I agree with SirGrilldCheese. Maybe Susan was some kind of experiment to make humans stronger before the Mushroom War, and maybe she escaped and ran to the sewers to side. Maybe she was really smart, but because she never talked to other humans for a couple of years, maybe she forgot how to converse. Or another theory is that Susan could possibly be Finn's mom, and Martin doesn't like to talk about her because she was an experiment, or there was something wrong with her (for example, maybe she was born illiterate), so he never told Finn. Susan could also possibly a cyborg (part human, part robot), or maybe she's a robot with human features (like the Terminator off of Terminator), or possibly, Princess Bubblegum was involved and she implanted a chip inside of Susan's brain to make her forget everything she knew, making her "dumb", and released her into the sewers, as an experiment. No one actually knows what's with Susan, but we will sometime soon.

If she was Finns mom she would have made it obvious! Mothers don't forget their babies!!!!!! And I'm sure that if he was her son Susan would have realized it the moment they met. And Finns dad clearly seemed disturbed when he mentioned the mom. im sure that whatever happened to her really messed Marvin up and it's probably why he became the shittiest person in Ooo by abandoning and not wanting to develop a relationship with his son. And I'm pretty sure that if Finns mom was alive then she would not have abandoned him in the forest. And if she was alive she would have spent every minute of everyday looking for her son, hopefully .I know it's mean but for Finns sake I hope the mother is dead and not a dillweed like Marvin. Can you imagine how much that would suck? As a child of dillweed parents finding out that one of your parent don't care about you to the point that they would abandoned you in the middle of nowhere not even making sure that you'll survive then later on finding out that the other parent is alive and also did not care or know (or for the Susan theory: don't recognize) would be like 1000000x more devastating! Unless Finns mom was like trap somewhere (like how Finns dad was trapped before Finn saved him) then I don't think she's alive. Anyways that's why I don't think its Susan. Well maybe she got her memory erased? But still, I'm sure she would have suspicions or Finn would.

She is human but seems to have been experimented on, perhaps explaining her super strength. She has no gills. Finn looks bewildered when he feels her neck. He doesn't know what to do or feel with the knowledge. & in beautopia Susan shoves Finns head under the water, assuming he can breathe underwater. She's shocked when he can't, she obviously didn't realise he was human. If you've watched the mini series stakes, there's some stuff about the last humans in Ooo after the mushroom war, fighting to survive. There's a group that wears animal like hats... & a small human girl that bares a similarity to Susan. I love these things in Adventure Time. I hope it keeps going long enough to reveal more. We will learn Susan's history. & perhaps how the other humans became mutant fish people. Leftover radiation from the mushroom war maybe?
